Our America: Living While Black was developed as an eight-market, data-driven documentary initiative during a period of national reckoning around race, equity, and justice in the United States. Initially launched as a one-hour broadcast special, the project examined the lived experiences of Black families through the lens of economic disparity, systemic racism, and historical inequity. The editorial and visual framework was grounded in rigorous data journalism and designed to support clear, responsible storytelling across markets. The brand was developed through a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens, with narrative themes informed by the Black Lives Matter movement, historical context, and socioeconomic factors shaping contemporary life. The resulting system established a cohesive identity that could be extended across platforms while maintaining editorial integrity and cultural sensitivity.
